Fall a season for transition. A season of change.

Bittersweet October. The mellow, messy, leaf-kicking, perfect pause between the opposing miseries of summer and winter.” By: Carol Bishop Hipps

As we approach the end of October in the northern hemisphere, a changing season is rampantly upon us.

It’s change we can see.

It’s change we can feel.

It’s one of my favourite seasons, the fall season, as it brings changing leaves and beautiful colours. The leaves literally dying off in front of our eyes to eventually fall off the trees, making the trees bare. The weathers changing to be crisper, cooler and the nights becoming longer and longer. Days shorter and less sunshine for us to get our energy from.

Fall: A symbolism of transition and change.

Fall is the transient between summer and winter. A symbolism of transition and change that it is inevitable and constant.

Like the changing season, we too can take note for our own lives. Making changes in our lives in some way. But how? Do I even need to?

Yes, I think this season is a perfect time to move inwards, to reflect and start to shed negative aspects in our lives that don’t support or serve us. This is where growth lies. The times we tune into ourselves, our thoughts, feelings, emotions and how we feel physically, this brings awareness in. We learn about who we are, what we want, what we need in any given moment, especially when we need it when times are hard.

The act of introspection can bring about CHANGE. It also allows us time to notice, see and create space for growth and change….

The GROWTH is our ability to become more self aware and improve not only our relationship with ourselves, but with others too. We learn to respond, rather than react.

Tune inwards

Tapping into our intuition becomes easier when we create space to practice it. My introspection practices include anything from meditation, practicing yoga the physical (asana), yin yoga and restorative yoga practices that are still and more passive, journaling, and walks or hikes alone to think. These activities allow me space. Mental space. With yoga I create more space in my body thus more space in my mind. When we create SPACE for shit to literally come up. We start to discover ourselves a little more and become aware of the good, bad and the ugly things about our lives.

When we do discover something needs to change and we do eventually get to place where we have to shift and make changes…change sometimes can be messy. It can feel hard, frustrating, especially when it’s out of our control and we may feel nervous of the unpredictability of the outcomes. Like that old saying goes, stay the course. You are strong.

Mellow in the messy. Live the course of the messy. As on the other side will be something so much better waiting for you.

The good that can come of being more introspective especially this time of year, is that it’s a good time to reflect on what we want to for ourselves or what we maybe want to accomplish with only a few months to go in 2019.

Before the new year comes we can begin to move inward and transition more towards positive things, thoughts, feelings and setting ourselves up for success and happiness.
The end of the year is always a busy time, especially with less than two months to go till the holidays and festivities you may even feel a bit overwhelmed. I know I do, as I put all this pressure on myself to do more, whether its with writing, creating yoga classes and content, projects at work etc.

When times do get messy, embrace that moment and allow the transition to occur. Move inward. Be with yourself to listen. Do less.

Creating that space for reflection, pause in your life to truly observe and listen to your intuition rather than opinions around you.

Tap into your intuition.

I leave you with a poem…

Fall - a season of transition. Summer ends, winter is soon to arrive.

The changes are visible.

The changes are unstoppable.

The seasons can teach us about life.

How changes are visible, but they are unstoppable.

Notice.

Observe.

Become aware.

Unstoppable.

I am.

Take care of your mind and body. Shed what doesn’t serve you, create space for what does. Move in. Practice introspection.

Namaste,

Marzena
