With market losses and with COVID-19’s exponential spread across the world, things are unknown.
It’s the end of week two. Week two of being inside at home and living what’s being referred to as physical and social distance.
During this uncertain time we are in, it can be quite an anxious and stressful time. We can feel alone, trapped, maybe even a bit cabin feverish. Sort of like, fish in a fish bowl.
Between social media and the news cycle filling our minds with information overload, this can feed our anxiety and stress. It seems we can’t get away from it.
The fears, anxiety and stress can continue to increase, as we don’t know how long the physical and social distancing advisement will be around for. Or how bad the virus will spread.
During this time it’s more vital that we control what we can, which is ourselves.
What we do with our day and time matters. Even how long we watch and consume content for. Especially if it’s repetitive, negative and increases our stress and anxiety.
The content we consume matters. Choose wisely.
Slow down. Nurture your mind, body and spirit.
We are forced now to slow down literally, a sort of break from that hustle and bustle face paced culture in our society. Even the routine of getting up and going to work now when I reflect, feels like it was so fast paced. Especially now that my commute is 30 seconds.
I’m using this time, as an opportunity to nourish myself. Things like catching up on shows, movies (but not too much binging), tweaking my website, journaling, writing more on this blog, getting back into making bracelets, oh and decluttering my spaces.
I’m also making all my meals which has offered me a chance to get creative in the kitchen and eat a bit healthier.
This opportunity to slow down gives us a chance to take even better care of our mind, physical body and spirit. Nurturing ourselves with all the good things that help us stay positive and grow as an individual.
Anything you’ve been putting off is a great time to get back into it, as we have nothing but time. Like reading that book that’s sitting on your night stand that you haven’t had time to read. Maybe meditating more or start if you’ve never tried. Journal or do some online yoga classes. Take some online courses on a skill you’ve wanted to learn, like photography, writing, maybe work on projects, or creative things you’ve wanted to do.
Maybe you have a project already started and it’s sitting there unfinished. Now is the time to finish it.
We know this is temporary, but that unknown of not knowing, can put us into a negative spiral. Just know that its okay if you do feel stressed or anxious, give yourself that space to feel it. But don’t do things that feed that negative spiral.
Do something that quiets the mind rather than allowing ourselves to spiral to that negative thinking place. Everyday will be different, but if we can reflect and focus on what encourages us to feel better.
Take time to reflect and think about (maybe even jot down)…
What will or is currently nourishing your mind?
What will or is currently nourishing your body?

We know this is temporary, let’s use this time wisely to slow down and reflect on what matters.
Nourish your mind.

Namaste,
Marzena
